The City of Gholson is accepting applications from qualified individuals interested in being appointed to serve as Mayor to fill a vacancy for the remainder of the unexpired term.

The appointment term will run from the date of appointment through May 28, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified.

Interested individuals must contact the City Secretary for an application, or click here to download one, and must meet all eligibility requirements for the office of Mayor, including residency and voter qualification requirements. The deadline for applications is currently February 11, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. This deadline may extend if a quorum for the special meeting is not achieved.

The City Council is currently expected to consider the appointment at a special meeting on February 11, 2026 at 6 p.m. Future meetings for February 12 at 5:45 p.m. and February 13 at 6:00 p.m. have been noticed as well if a quorum cannot be met.
